On the afternoon of 17 July 2025, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Professor KAWASHIMA Shin of International Relations at the University of Tokyo, at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Professor Kawashima expressed his sincere gratitude to Samdech Borvor Thipadei for kindly taking time from his busy schedule to receive him and his associates. He explained to Samdech Borvor Thipadei that the purpose of their visit was to gain a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s socio-economic development and foreign policy by meeting with representatives from various ministries, institutions, and higher educational institutions. He also respectfully requested that the Prime Minister share insights into the Royal Government of Cambodia’s policies on socio-economic development and the strengthening of Cambodia–Japan relations.

In response, Samdech Borvor Thipadei welcomed the visit of Professor Kawashima and his colleagues, as well as their interest in Cambodia’s development journey. The Prime Minister highlighted that the key policies of the Royal Government of Cambodia of the Seventh Legislature of the National Assembly are to place people at the centre of development, focusing on improving living standards through better healthcare, education, job creation, and the promotion of a favourable environment for business and investment.

Samdech Borvor Thipadei and Professor Kawashima also exchanged views on regional and international affairs, with a focus on promoting peace, stability, and prosperity both regionally and globally in an increasingly uncertain world.
