Trump invites Hun Manet to join proposed ‘Board of Peace’ on Middle East plan

US President Donald J. Trump has formally invited Prime Minister Hun Manet to join a newly proposed international body intended to advance peace efforts in the Middle East, according to a letter issued from the White House on January 16.
In the letter addressed to Hun Manet, Trump invited Cambodia to become a founding member of what he described as “The Board of Peace”, an international organisation and transitional governing administration envisioned under his administration’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.
Trump wrote that it was his “Great Honor” to invite Mr Hun Manet to participate in what he called a “critically Historic and Magnificent effort to solidify Peace in the Middle East and, at the same time, to embark on a bold new approach to resolving Global Conflict”.
According to the letter, the initiative follows Trump’s announcement on September 29, 2025 of a 20-point roadmap to end the Gaza conflict — a plan he said had been embraced by world leaders across the Arab world, Israel and Europe.
He further noted that on November 17, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2803, which he said welcomed and endorsed the vision.
“At the heart of the Plan is The Board of Peace, the most impressive and consequential Board ever assembled, which will be established as a new International Organisation and Transitional Governing Administration,” Trump stated.
He added that the effort would bring together nations prepared to take responsibility for building what he described as “LASTING PEACE”, calling participation an honour for countries “prepared to lead by example, and brilliantly invest in a secure and prosperous future for generations to come”.
As chairman of the proposed Board, Trump formally invited Cambodia “to join as a Founding Member State, and become a party to the Charter of The Board of Peace”, with Mr Hun Manet representing the Kingdom.
The letter also noted that each member state may appoint an authorised representative to attend and participate in board meetings.
Enclosed with the letter were the Comprehensive Plan and the draft Charter of the Board, which Trump said were open for signature and ratification.
“I look forward to working with you, long into the future, toward the goal of establishing lasting WORLD PEACE, PROSPERITY, AND GREATNESS FOR ALL!” Trump announced in the letter.
Cambodian officials have not yet publicly responded to the invitation, and it remains unclear whether Phnom Penh will accept the proposal or seek further clarification on the structure and mandate of the proposed Board of Peace.
