On the afternoon of 23 October 2026, at the Peace Palace, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Silke Röfer, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cambodia.

During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed her pleasure and gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to her by the Cambodian people and the Royal Government of Cambodia. She expressed satisfaction with the progress made in bilateral relations and cooperation, noting that 2027 would mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Germany. She welcomed the various activities planned to commemorate this milestone and commended the excellent cooperation between the two countries, particularly in mine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance. Furthermore, the Ambassador highlighted the German private sector’s interest in exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s health sector and expressed her desire to strengthen business-to-business (B2B) links, reflecting the growing commercial ties between the two countries.

In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated Her Excellency on her appointment as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Cambodia. He noted that Cambodia, once devastated by prolonged civil war and a recipient of United Nations peacekeeping assistance, had transformed into a country capable of deploying demining personnel and Blue Helmets to participate in United Nations peacekeeping missions around the world. He further highlighted the opportunities for Cambodia and Germany to strengthen and expand cooperation in various fields, including human resource development, trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. Regarding investment, Samdech Thipadei noted that the Royal Government of Cambodia had introduced various incentive policies to attract foreign investment. He emphasised that Cambodia stood ready to welcome German private-sector investment as the country sought to move beyond basic manufacturing towards advanced industries, including the automotive sector and advanced technologies.

Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei and the Ambassador exchanged views on strengthening and expanding cooperation in security, defence, and information-sharing to combat cyber threats, particularly online scams and other forms of cybercrime. Samdech Thipadei encouraged the Ambassador to maintain close collaboration with the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to explore further opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation in other areas with potential.
