Cambodia to Host Series of RBC Meetings with Thailand Amid Rising Tensions

Cambodia will host three separate Regional Border Committee (RBC) meetings with Thailand’s military regions this month, as both countries seek to strengthen the full and effective implementation of their ceasefire agreement amid rising tensions along the shared border.

Cambodia has accused Thailand of numerous provocations in recent weeks, heightening the urgency of these talks.

According to the Ministry of National Defence, the first RBC meeting between Cambodia’s Military Region 3 and Thailand’s Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command is scheduled from October 4 to 6, 2025, in Koh Kong Province, with Cambodia acting as the host. Cambodia’s Military Region 3 has already sent an official invitation to its Thai counterpart.

The purpose of these meetings is to promote practical cooperation, restore normalcy, and enhance peace and stability in border areas, while ensuring the continued implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

Following this, the RBC meeting between Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Region 2 will take place from October 7 to 9 in Oddar Meanchey Province, again with Cambodia hosting.

Finally, the RBC meeting between Cambodia’s Military Region 5 and Thailand’s Army Region 1 is scheduled for October 10 to 12 in Banteay Meanchey Province.
