Many citizens have expressed confidence in the Royal Government to resolve the border issue peacefully in accordance with international law, in order to protect territorial integrity in areas that Thai military continues to illegally occupy after the ceasefire.

Cambodia and Thailand agreed to an on-site ceasefire on December 27, 2025. Despite the agreement, concerns remain about potential threats to territorial integrity, as the Thai army is still stationed in some locations in Cambodia.

Tep Chhuncheurin, a resident of Phnom Penh, said:

“At first, there were concerns among us on Facebook that our land was being occupied. However, we believe that the Royal Government will resolve the issue diplomatically, as we have seen that previous resolutions were very successful. We are still waiting for good news, and I believe they will succeed because they rely on knowledge and law rather than force.

In general, war leads to loss and destruction, so I think a diplomatic solution is the best option for us Cambodians at this time. I believe this is a new era, and we do not need to worry because we have all the evidence. I believe the world has seen what is right. Our land cannot be taken lightly. In the past, whoever won did so because the world recognizes international law.

When there is war, especially, the people of the entire country suffer. I want the international community to see the hardships faced by a small country. Our people suffer together, and I hope we do not lose more land and that the issue will be resolved soon.”

Seng Sunmy, also a resident of Phnom Penh, said:

“I believe that our current government is making efforts to resolve the border issue, including both territorial concerns and the areas occupied by Thailand. This approach is correct because such a major issue cannot be solved immediately; it must be addressed step by step. Each stage requires time to reach a peaceful solution so that further conflicts can be avoided.

We do not want disputes and problems to lead to war again. We want the international community to see that Cambodia is a small country that does not seek war or conflict. We want peace to return to the way it was before. We do not want to lose any of our people or our frontline soldiers. We are all Cambodians, and we truly care for one another. We do not want to lose any of our members.”
