Cambodia Under Siege: Stop Thailand’s Lawless Invasion Now

On October 10, peace was shattered in Prey Chan village, Banteay Meanchey province, when Thai military forces crossed into Cambodian territory and bulldozed the rice fields that local families have cultivated for generations. Backed by armoured vehicles and razor-wire barricades, hundreds of Thai soldiers and villagers entered as if borders meant nothing. It was a lawless and cruel act that left our communities shocked and outraged.
This is not just a border dispute — it is a blatant violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty. No nation has the right to destroy civilian property or use military force against peaceful villagers. And yet, the international community remains silent.
Where is the condemnation from global leaders, ASEAN or the UN? When similar incidents occur elsewhere, the world responds swiftly. But when Cambodian livelihoods are bulldozed, the silence is deafening. Are our people less worthy of protection?
This indifference sends a dangerous message: that smaller nations can be ignored, and powerful neighbours can act with impunity. Cambodia has always sought peace — we did not provoke this aggression. But peace must not be mistaken for weakness.
The international community must act now. ASEAN, the UN, and other global institutions must urgently address this unlawful aggression. Continued silence will only embolden further violations and threaten regional stability. Cambodia deserves the same protection and respect for its sovereignty as any other nation. At the same time, Cambodians must remain united and calm. Let our anger fuel resolve — not retaliation.
Thailand must be held accountable. And the world must answer for its silence. Cambodia will defend its sovereignty, its people and its land. We will not be bulldozed — not today, not ever.
