Opinion: Cambodia’s Unwavering Commitment to Peace Amid Thailand’s Ceasefire Provocations

As the Kingdom of Cambodia stands firmly on the side of peace, our government has spared no effort to ensure that the recently agreed-upon ceasefire with Thailand is upheld. Cambodia has acted with integrity and transparency, fully committed to avoiding any action that might undermine regional stability.
From the very outset of this conflict, Cambodia has pursued peace with sincerity. There is no reason — political, military or strategic — for Cambodia to provoke or violate the ceasefire in any form. Instead, Cambodia has taken the high road, working tirelessly with the ASEAN Chair, the UN Security Council and world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, to secure and sustain the ceasefire that our region so urgently needs.
In stark contrast, Thailand has repeatedly sought to disrupt this fragile peace. Through a combination of military provocations and an orchestrated campaign of misinformation, Thai authorities have attempted to manufacture incidents on the ground to justify their aggressive actions. Reports of Cambodian violations are nothing more than fabrications designed to manipulate international opinion and mask Thailand’s continued belligerence.
Cambodia calls on the international community to see through these distortions and to hold Thailand accountable for its repeated breaches of the ceasefire spirit. Peace can only be preserved if all parties act in good faith, and Cambodia has demonstrated, time and again, that it remains a principled partner in this effort.
The world should know this: Cambodia’s commitment to peace is unshakable. But peace cannot be sustained in the face of persistent provocation and deception. It is time for Thailand to abandon its reckless tactics, respect the ceasefire it agreed to and join Cambodia on the path to lasting stability and regional harmony.
