Ministry of Defense Issues Statement Regarding Explosion on the Cambodia-Thailand Border, Resulting in Injuries to Four Cambodian Soldiers [Unofficial Translation]
The Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia wishes to inform the public as well as members of national and international media as follows:
On Sunday, July 05, 2026, at approximately 12:35 PM, our forces were conducting a patrol operation in the Cashew plantation area in Chouk Kruos village, Thma Don village, Kouk Mon commune, Banteay Ampil district, Oddar Meanchey province, when they encountered a patrol from the Royal Thai Armed Forces operating on the other side of the barbed wire fence. Shortly after both patrols had passed one another, an explosive device detonated behind our patrol, wounding 04 Cambodian personnel with shrapnel injuries. The wounded soldiers are currently receiving attentive medical care from medical teams and relevant personnel.
Concerning the above explosive incident, the frontline Command Post and expert teams are conducting a comprehensive and meticulous investigation to determine the cause of the explosion, so as to bring forth facts for both our forces and the public.
Taking this opportunity, the Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirm our firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements. This commitment is made with the aim of ensuring rapid recovery and restoring normalcy, and long-lasting peace and stability.
The public, as well as national and international journalists, are hereby informed of the facts regarding this matter.
