On the morning of 24 April 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Kęstutis Budrys, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Foreign Minister expressed his deep appreciation for Cambodia’s warm hospitality and noted that this first official visit marked an important step in elevating friendship and cooperation between the two countries to a new level. He highlighted that Cambodia and Lithuania possess significant potential in bilateral relations and cooperation, which both countries could further expand and strengthen.

In response, Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed His Excellency the Foreign Minister and his delegation on their official visit to Cambodia. Samdech Thipadei regarded the visit as a catalyst for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding the scope for closer and more comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, for the mutual benefit of both peoples.

Samdech Thipadei and His Excellency the Foreign Minister also discussed enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including the economy, trade and investment, agriculture, the processing industry, tourism, digital transformation, education and training, as well as strengthening relations between the private sectors of both countries. They also discussed opportunities and potential for cooperation in the energy sector aiming to advance its development. In this regard, His Excellency the Foreign Minister highlighted Lithuania’s experience and strengths in developing its energy sector independently and progressively to its current level. For Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei underscored the priorities and policies of the Royal Government in developing the energy sector, noting that Cambodia has so far achieved up to 62% clean energy consumption and aims to increase this to 70% by 2030. Samdech Thipadei further stated that the Royal Government has implemented policies and mechanisms, and dedicated extensive efforts to promote the robust development of the energy sector. In this context, Samdech Thipadei emphasised that Cambodia and Lithuania have strong potential for deeper cooperation in the energy sector.

Before concluding, Samdech Thipadei and His Excellency the Foreign Minister also exchanged views on regional and global issues, expressing their shared views on the importance of respecting international law, the United Nations Charter, the peaceful resolution of conflicts, and the non-use of force. On this occasion, Samdech Thipadei underscored Cambodia’s commitment to and firm position on upholding and strictly respecting the Charter of the United Nations, the ASEAN Charter, and the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law, a position fully aligned with that of the Republic of Lithuania.
