Cambodia reaffirms border ceasefire commitment during joint monitoring visit

Cambodia remains fully committed to its ceasefire agreement with Thailand, according to defence officials. said yesterday, following a site visit to key border locations by international monitoring teams.
The National Defence Ministry Spokesperson, Lt Gen Maly Socheata, confirmed that the Administrative Operations Team visited Chor 1 in Veal Veng district’s Ekpheap village and the Stung Meteuk Bridge in Pursat province. These visits are part of ongoing efforts to verify stability along the frontier.
Socheata said Cambodia’s adherence to peace since the ceasefire officially took effect on December 27, 2025.
Cambodia has upheld the ceasefire agreement, according to Socheata. The government adheres to the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement from October 26, 2025, and the protocols from the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee meetings.
Since December, tensions in the border region have decreased significantly, allowing the deployment of monitoring teams to ensure both sides remain in their positions and prevent hostilities. AKP
