Cambodian Minister of National Defence Tea Seiha has responded to Thai media reports regarding a formal letter sent to the Thai defence ministry, saying the document has been misinterpreted and inaccurately presented to the public.

In a social media post, Seiha said some Thai media outlets, both official and unofficial, had published the letter as if it were leaked, despite it being an official communication addressed directly to the Thai defence minister.

“Some Thai media outlets have taken an official letter and presented it as if it were a leak,” he wrote.

“Even with tools such as Google Translate or AI like ChatGPT and Gemini, their translations do not match what has been interpreted and published for the Thai public,” he added.

The minister expressed frustration over the discrepancies, saying the reporting had led to confusion about Cambodia’s position.

“At this point, I am beyond confused,” he added.

The letter in question concerns Cambodia’s proposal to hold talks under the General Border Committee (GBC) mechanism, following recent tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border.

Thai media outlets, including major national platforms, reported that Cambodia had formally requested ceasefire talks, citing the document as evidence.

Cambodian officials, however, have maintained that the letter was part of formal diplomatic communication and should not be selectively interpreted or politicised through media reporting.
