New Saudi Ambassador to Cambodia Pledges to Elevate Bilateral Relations to a New Level

On the afternoon of 24 August 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Ambassador commended the progress made in relations and cooperation between the two countries across various sectors. He highlighted his commitment to elevating bilateral relations to a new level during his diplomatic tenure. Furthermore, he briefed Samdech Thipadei on two key priorities for further strengthening bilateral cooperation: 1) promoting exchanges of working visits by leaders and officials at all levels, and 2) strengthening ties between the private sectors of the two countries. He also highlighted the forthcoming visit of a Saudi business delegation to Cambodia to explore trade and investment opportunities.

In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated His Excellency Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi on his appointment as Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Cambodia and expressed confidence that his diplomatic mission would make an active contribution to further strengthening bilateral relations. Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei outlined that the 7th-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia has adopted a policy of diversifying its economic partnerships globally, including with Saudi Arabia. He added that investment in Cambodia not only helps meet domestic market demand but also provides opportunities to leverage the various free trade agreements that Cambodia has with regional and international partners.

Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei and His Excellency the Ambassador exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation in key potential areas, including the economy, trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). Samdech Thipadei encouraged the Ambassador to maintain close cooperation with the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to explore new opportunities for moving forward together.
