Cambodia-Japan bilateral trade rises by 17% in first 5 months of 2026

In the first five months of this year, Cambodia-Japan bilateral trade reached more than $1.2 billion, an increase of 17.2% compared to the same period last year, reflecting Japanese investors’ confidence in the business environment.

According to data from the General Department of Customs and Excise, Cambodia exported goods to Japan worth $766 million from January to May, up 20.6%, while Japan imported goods worth $434 million, up 11.8%.

According to the Vice President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, Oknha Lim Heng, Cambodia and Japan have implemented the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, increasing trade volume.

Cambodia trades with Japan across almost all sectors, including clothing, accessories, and some agricultural products.

Last year, the bilateral trade volume between Cambodia and Japan reached over $2.53 billion, an increase of 17.14%.

Cambodia exported goods to Japan worth $1.57 billion, up 11.86%, while Japan imported goods worth $956 million, up 27%.
