The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday organised the Cambodia-Vietnam Business Forum in Hanoi during Prime Minister Hun Manet’s official visit to Vietnam and his participation in the third ASEAN Future Forum.

The event was led by Cambodia Chamber of Commerce President Kith Meng, who also serves as the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Chair for Cambodia, and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice-President Nguyen Quang Vinh.

The forum brought together business leaders and investors from both countries to explore investment opportunities and expand strategic partnerships, according to a chamber statement.

Speaking at the forum, Meng said the diplomatic relations established between Cambodia and Vietnam in 1967 have evolved into a strong foundation for economic cooperation, making the two countries indispensable partners.

He said that Vietnam is one of Cambodia’s leading trading partners within ASEAN and that both governments have set a target of increasing bilateral trade to $20 billion. He said he is confident the goal can be achieved soon through closer cooperation.

Meng also urged both governments to further facilitate cross-border trade procedures and upgrade border checkpoints to an international status to improve connectivity and commerce.

Nguyen praised the strong business ties between Cambodia and Vietnam and expressed optimism about the opportunities for deeper cooperation.

He underscored the close collaboration between the two institutions, describing them as an important bridge connecting the business communities of both countries.

Nguyen identified three priority areas for future cooperation: strengthening market connectivity to serve Vietnam’s consumer market of more than 100 million people, developing shared value chains, and organising joint training programmes to enhance the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The forum also featured business-to-business meetings focusing on key sectors, including digital solutions, agriculture, logistics, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

The event concluded with a shared commitment by both chambers to maintain close cooperation and encourage greater private-sector engagement between the two countries.
