Cambodia has lodged another formal protest against continued actions by Thai armed forces that violate Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, following the ceasefire of December 27, 2025.

In a statement issued on March 20, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reported that in the Boeng Trakuon area, smoke was observed rising from three locations, believed to be houses on fire within a Cambodian residential area currently under illegal occupation by Thai forces.

It noted that in the O’Teuk Chol area, located in Bansay Reak commune, Samraong City, Oddar Meanchey province, the Thai armed forces have continued land-clearing activities, as well as the construction of roads and various concrete structures. These activities extend from the Khnar Temple area toward the Ta Krabey Temple area within Cambodian territory.

It has been reported that, on 18 March 2026, Thai armed forces, together with the Royal Forest Department and land survey officials, conducted land surveying activities and allocated three land plots to Thai citizens in the area of Chouk Chey Village, O’Beichoan commune, O’Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, along the border segment between boundary pillars 46 and 47.

The Cambodian Government said that Cambodia does not accept any boundary line or territorial claim unilaterally asserted by Thailand; and the above activities shall not prejudice the legal rights and position of Cambodia with respect to the demarcation of its international boundary

The Cambodian Government called upon Thailand to immediately cease the activities conducted in the above-mentioned areas or in any other area under similar circumstances, refrain from any further unilateral actions in the above area, and ensure the full and good-faith implementation of all relevant agreements and arrangements between the two countries, with a view to de-escalating the situation, fostering mutual trust and confidence, and preserving peace, stability and good neighbourliness along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
