Cambodia and the United States Continue to Strengthen and Expand Bilateral Cooperation to a Deeper Level
On the morning of 4 November 2025, at the Peace Palace, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a United States delegation led by His Excellency Michael George DeSombre, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, for a courtesy call and working discussion.
During the meeting, Samdech Borvor Thipadei and the United States delegation discussed the continued strengthening and expansion of cooperation between Cambodia and the United States to a deeper level in key sectors, particularly investment and trade, following the signing of the Reciprocal Trade Agreement between the two countries on 26 October in Kuala Lumpur. His Excellency the Assistant Secretary also discussed with Samdech Borvor Thipadei the follow-up on the implementation of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, which was signed by Samdech Borvor Thipadei and His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, on 26 October, in the presence of His Excellency Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, and His Excellency Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, as witnesses. At the same time, Samdech Borvor Thipadei reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm commitment to implementing this Joint Declaration genuinely and sincerely, with the aim of ensuring peace and stability between Cambodia and Thailand and transforming the border area into a zone of peace and development, both now and in the future.
On that occasion, Samdech Borvor Thipadei also expressed to the United States delegation his high appreciation and deep gratitude to the United States, particularly to His Excellency President Donald J. Trump, for his strenuous efforts in facilitating the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire agreement on 28 July and the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration. In recognition of these efforts, and reflecting the satisfaction and deep gratitude of the Cambodian people, Cambodia has nominated His Excellency President Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
