On the afternoon of March 20, 2025, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, His Excellency the President emphasized Cambodia’s significance as a key partner, noting the growing relations and cooperation between ADB and Cambodia. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Samdech Borvor Thipadei, relations and cooperation will continue to expand. He also respectfully informed Samdech Borvor Thipadei that during his first visit to Cambodia, he and his delegation traveled to Kep Province to observe the project “Strengthening Climate Resilience and Sustainability of Coastal and Marine Fisheries in Cambodia” and visited a local high school. He highlighted the project’s success as a strong example of the ADB-Cambodia partnership. Additionally, His Excellency the President noted that ADB’s newly adopted Country Partnership Strategy for Cambodia (2024-2028) aligns with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Pentagon Strategy – Phase 1. The ADB reaffirmed its commitment to deepening and expanding its partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia to help realize Cambodia’s Vision 2050.

In response, Samdech Borvor Thipadei highly valued and expressed gratitude to the ADB for its decades of support, which have significantly contributed to Cambodia’s socio-economic development. He stressed the importance of setting goals to drive economic growth, create jobs, and ensure sustainable development, while implementing the government’s priority policies to address citizens’ needs by enhancing healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. Samdech Borvor Thipadei also underscored key measures and mechanisms to support local communities in developing their potential through infrastructure development, training, capacity building, while ensuring direct benefits for these communities. Furthermore, Samdech Borvor Thipadei highlighted policies aimed at enhancing education as well as technical and vocational training to meet both current and future labor market demands, alongside policies to create a favorable investment climate and boost Cambodia’s competitiveness. Lastly, he encouraged the ADB to continue fostering relationships and collaborating with local authorities, ministries, and institutions of the Royal Government to further promote and strengthen the partnership between the ADB and Cambodia.
