Founder of World Rice Conference Supports Cambodia in Hosting the World Rice Conference 2025 [Unofficial translation]

On the afternoon of January 8, 2025, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr. Jeremy Zwinger, President and CEO of The Rice Trader (TRT) and founder of the World Rice Conference (WRC), at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Mr. President expressed his pleasure and admiration for Cambodia’s rapid development across all sectors, with remarkable progress in rice, logistics, and other infrastructure sectors. He also conveyed his optimistic confidence in Cambodia’s potential and extended his congratulations for Cambodian rice winning the World’s Best Rice Award at a conference held in Manila, Philippines, in November 2024. Mr. President further affirmed his support for Cambodia’s hosting the World Rice Conference in 2025. Additionally, he expressed his pleasure in having collaborated with Cambodia in promoting the rice sector.

In response, Samdech Borvor Thipadei expressed his gratitude to Mr. President for supporting Cambodia’s hosting of the World Rice Conference 2025 and emphasized that rice remains a long-term strategic crop for Cambodia, even as the country progresses toward embracing industrial and manufacturing sectors. Samdech also highlighted the government’s key policies aimed at boosting Cambodia’s rice production to enhance competitiveness, as well as developing infrastructure and logistics to facilitate transportation and reduce costs.
