BREAKING: PM Hun Manet Adds $2, Raising 2027 Garment Minimum Wage to $212

Prime Minister Hun Manet has added $2 to the minimum wage figure agreed through tripartite negotiations, raising the monthly minimum wage for workers in Cambodia’s textile, garment, footwear, travel goods and bag sectors to $212 for 2027.

The decision came after the National Council for Minimum Wage held its final meeting on Wednesday to determine the minimum wage for next year.

The tripartite council put two figures to a vote: $210 proposed by employers and $225 proposed by unions.

The $210 figure received 47 of 51 votes, making it the figure with the strongest support in the final vote.

Mr Hun Manet subsequently added $2 to the negotiated figure, bringing the final minimum wage to $212 per month, according to the announcement.

The new minimum wage will take effect from January 1, 2027.

Workers will also continue to receive additional allowances and benefits, including a $7 monthly transportation and accommodation allowance, a $10 regular attendance bonus, a meal allowance of 2,000 riel per day for voluntary overtime, and seniority payments ranging from $2 to $11 per month for workers with between two and 11 years of service.

Based on the minimum wage and additional benefits, workers are expected to receive an average total monthly income of $229 to $240 or more, according to the announcement.

The $212 minimum wage represents a $2 increase from the $210 minimum wage for 2026.
