On the afternoon of 8 April 2026, Samdech Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held bilateral talks with His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, while attending the One Health Summit in Lyon and paying an official working visit to France from 6 to 9 April 2026.

During the meeting, His Excellency the President expressed his pleasure in welcoming Samdech Thipadei and the Cambodian delegation once again. He thanked Samdech Thipadei for attending the One Health Summit in Lyon and for his working visit to Paris. His Excellency Emmanuel Macron also underscored France’s friendship with the country and people of Cambodia, while praising Samdech Thipadei’s visionary leadership. He reaffirmed his upcoming State Visit to Cambodia, as well as his participation in the 20th Francophonie Summit to be hosted in Phnom Penh at the end of 2026.

In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated France on the successful organisation of the One Health Summit. He emphasised the long-standing relationship between Cambodia and France and expressed sincere gratitude for France’s contributions to Cambodia’s peace process and socio-economic development. Samdech Thipadei also expressed his pleasure regarding the President’s upcoming State Visit and his participation in the 20th Francophonie Summit in Cambodia later this year.

Samdech Thipadei and His Excellency the President held productive discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, particularly the elevation of relations between Cambodia and France to a Strategic Partnership in the near future. They also exchanged views on initiatives to expand cooperation in key sectors, including trade, economy, energy, defence and security, culture and heritage, healthcare, education, and tourism.

Regarding the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border, Samdech Thipadei briefed President Macron on the latest developments. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to resolving border issues peacefully, in accordance with international law, conventions, treaties, and existing bilateral agreements between the two countries.
