The Ministry of Interior has issued figures of the number of people displaced by the recent Thai aggression against Cambodia.

The Ministry stated on the afternoon of January 2, 2026, that from 6:00 p.m. on January 1 to 1:00 p.m. on January 2, 2026, 15,624 refugees continued to return to their homes, bringing the total number of refugees to 393,640, including 206,783 women and 126,196 children.

Continued closures and resumption of basic public services: Banteay Meanchey province has 321 schools (237 state, 84 private) and 6 hospitals/health centers remaining closed, while 9 schools, 16 hospitals/health centers, and administration at the provincial, city, district, and commune-sangkat levels have resumed operations. Preah Vihear province has 61 schools and 14 hospitals/health centers remaining closed, while administration at the district and 6 commune levels have resumed operations.

In Oddar Meanchey province, 212 schools, 14 hospitals/health centers, 1 provincial administration, 2 city-district administrations, 9 communes/sangkats, and 1 administrative police station remained closed, while 101 schools, 8 hospitals/health centers, 4 district administrations, 10 law enforcement units, 18 commune administrations, and 23 administrative police stations were reopened. In Koh Kong province, 66 schools that had been closed have all reopened.

Impacts and damage to civil physical infrastructure: Data recently collected shows damage to 46 civilian houses, 2 gas stations, 1 private market, 4 schools, 5 hospitals/health centers, 22 buildings, and 1 road. Therefore, as of December 7, total damage to private property includes 323 houses, 7 private civilian buildings, 5 residential/hotel buildings, 3 gas stations, 1 private market, 33 vehicles, 1 motorbike, 1 potato market, 1 warehouse, 2 telephone antenna poles, 1 rice barn, and 2 livestock/wildlife. Total damage to public property includes 16 schools, 7 health centers, 39 buildings, 5 pagodas, 1 school, 1 statue, 1 vehicle, 4 ancient temples, 5 bridges, 1 market, 4 roads, and 1 electricity supply system.
