As a citizen of Cambodia, I am writing to express my most sincere and equal gratitude to the nations of Malaysia, the United States and China.

Your vital, decisive, constructive and cooperative roles in brokering the ceasefire of 28 July 2025, the Kuala Lumpur Peace Deal of 26 October 2025 and the recent ceasefire of 27 December 2025 have provided a much-needed glimmer of hope during a time of great uncertainty for our people.

I wish to honour the contributions of your three nations with equal weight.

To Malaysia: We thank you for your steadfast leadership within ASEAN. By providing a neutral platform and acting as a dedicated mediator, you have shown the true spirit of regional brotherhood.

To the United States: We thank you for your active diplomatic presence and for your persistent efforts to bring all parties to the table. Your influence was a critical force in moving this agreement from a hope to a reality.

To the People’s Republic of China: We thank you for your constructive and vital support. Your role in maintaining communication and fostering trust between all sides has been an essential pillar of this peace process.

While we celebrate this ceasefire as a monumental step, the reality on the ground remains fragile. Many of our people are still gripped by the shadows of conflict and do not yet feel safe enough to return to their homes and villages. The fear is still very real.

Therefore, my gratitude is not only for the ceasefire itself but for the future possibility of safety that your mediation has created.

We look to your continued support to ensure this peace is lasting, so that one day soon the fear will fade and our displaced families can finally return home with true peace of mind.

With deep respect and hope,

Kin Phea, A Cambodian citizen. The view and opinions expressed are his own.
