The Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia wishes to inform the general public as well as members of national and international media outlets, as follows:

On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 10:55 AM, the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) of the Kingdom of Cambodia facilitated a field visit for His Excellency General ANTONIO G NAFARRETE, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and his delegation to inspect the actual situation at the Boeung Trakuon border checkpoint, located in Kok Romiet Commune, Thma Puok District, Banteay Meanchey Province.

During the visit, His Excellency Om Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province, delivered a brief presentation to the delegation on the current situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border near the Boeung Trakuon border checkpoint. The presentation emphasized Cambodia’s firm commitment to respecting and implementing the ceasefire and the Joint Statement with good faith and the highest sense of responsibility.

At the same time, the presentation also highlighted several challenges and concerns regarding the ongoing activities that violate the spirit of existing agreements between Cambodia and Thailand as well as international law. Such activities must cease immediately to prevent unnecessary escalation of tension and severe impacts on trust and confidence between the two nations.

The on-site inspection by the Chief of Staff of the Philippine Armed Forces and his delegation clearly demonstrates the Philippines’ support—in its capacity as the rotating ASEAN Chair and an ASEAN member state—for Cambodia’s efforts to maintain the ceasefire and the work of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). In particular, it underscores support for achieving a peaceful, just, and lasting resolution in accordance with international law, as well as existing treaties and agreements between the two countries.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirm our firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements, with a view to achieving the swift improvement of the situation and the restoration of normalcy.

The public, as well as national and international journalists, are hereby informed of the facts regarding this matter.
