Haier Group Partners with a Cambodian Company to Establish Cambodia’s First Tablet Assembly Plant

On the afternoon of 15 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr Diao Yunfeng, Vice President of Haier Group, on the occasion of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.

During the meeting, the Vice President briefed Samdech Thipadei on the business operations of Haier Group, one of the world’s leading enterprises, which manufactures smart home appliances and equipment and provides digital transformation solutions. The company currently operates in more than 60 countries and serves approximately 44 million users worldwide. He also updated Samdech Thipadei on the company’s investment plans in Cambodia, highlighting its partnership with a Cambodian company to establish the country’s first tablet assembly plant. The project aims to provide affordable tablets to students and workers in the informal economy, thereby expanding access to digital technology and supporting online learning.

In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated Haier Group on its successful business operations. He emphasised that the Royal Government of Cambodia consistently welcomes and supports investors and has introduced a wide range of incentive policies designed to facilitate successful investment in Cambodia. Samdech Thipadei also highly appreciated and welcomed the project to manufacture affordable tablets, noting that it would make a significant contribution to advancing digital transformation in the education sector and strengthening human resource development in Cambodia.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the company to maintain close engagement with its Cambodian partner, as well as with the relevant ministries and institutions of the Royal Government of Cambodia, in order to maximise the opportunities provided by the Royal Government’s investment incentive policies and further expand its investment in Cambodia.
