Samdech Thipadei Encourages Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior, Laos’ Ministry of Public Security and Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security to Further Strengthen Cooperation

On the morning of 30 June 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Lieutenant General Vanthong Kongmany, Minister of Public Security of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and His Excellency General Lương Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, the Lao Minister of Public Security and the Vietnamese Minister of Public Security highly commended the excellent cooperation among the Ministry of Public Security of Laos, the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia. They noted that this close cooperation has made a significant contribution to strengthening and expanding relations and cooperation among the three countries. Furthermore, both Ministers informed Samdech Thipadei of the fruitful outcomes of the 2nd Ministerial Meeting among the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia, the Ministry of Public Security of Laos and the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam, which was hosted by Cambodia. They also reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing cooperation among the three ministries.

In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated the Ministers on the successful outcomes of the 2nd Ministerial Meeting. He recalled the longstanding traditional bonds of friendship among Cambodia, Laos and Viet Nam, highlighting the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Laos in 2026, as well as the forthcoming celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Viet Nam in 2027. Samdech Thipadei also emphasised the importance of continuing to strengthen and expand relations and cooperation among the three countries.

Samdech Thipadei and the Ministers of Laos and Viet Nam also exchanged views on promoting, strengthening and expanding security cooperation among the three countries, particularly encouraging the authorities of the border provinces to maintain close cooperation in security management, with the aim of transforming border areas into zones of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, while continuing to enhance joint efforts to combat transnational crime, human trafficking, drug trafficking and online scams.

Before concluding, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia, the Ministry of Public Security of Laos and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to continue strengthening and expanding relations and cooperation among the three ministries to achieve even greater progress. He noted that such cooperation would contribute to advancing relations and cooperation among the three countries, as well as promoting stronger cooperation in the areas of the economy, trade and investment.

In conclusion, Samdech Thipadei encouraged greater people-to-people exchanges, particularly among the youth of the three countries.
