Cambodia Rejects Thai Media Claims of Third Armed Conflict as ‘Incorrect and Baseless’

The Ministry of National Defence has dismissed recent Thai media reports alleging that Cambodia is preparing for a third armed conflict with Thailand, describing the claims as “incorrect and baseless.”
In a press release issued on Tuesday, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, said the reports—citing Thailand’s intelligence chief—do not reflect the reality on the ground.
She reaffirmed that the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces remain committed to maintaining peace and stability along the Cambodia–Thailand border, in line with existing bilateral agreements.
“The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces firmly adhere to the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special GBC Meeting dated December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on Peace between Cambodia and Thailand dated October 26, 2025, as well as other relevant documents,” she said.
The statement emphasised that Cambodia continues to follow directives from the Royal Government to uphold security and prevent escalation, while supporting the peaceful resolution of border issues.
According to the ministry, Cambodia’s position remains anchored in international law, as well as existing treaties and conventions between the two neighbouring countries.
“The Cambodian armed forces fully support the Royal Government’s position on resolving border issues peacefully, based on international law and the conventions, treaties, and existing agreements between the two countries,” the spokeswoman added.
