Phnom Penh, March 24, 2026 — Cambodia has rejected recent Thai media reports alleging that the country is preparing for a third armed conflict, describing the claims as incorrect and baseless.
 
In a statement issued on the evening of Mar. 24, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, clarified that the reports, which cited remarks by a Thai intelligence chief, do not reflect the reality on the ground.
 
She emphasised that the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces remain committed to upholding the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting dated Dec. 27, 2025, as well as the Joint Declaration on Peace between Cambodia and Thailand signed on Oct. 26, 2025, along with other relevant agreements.
 
According to the spokesperson, Cambodian armed forces continue to follow the directives of the Royal Government in maintaining peace, stability, and security along the border.
 
The statement also reaffirmed Cambodia’s consistent position of resolving border issues through peaceful means, in accordance with international law and existing bilateral treaties and agreements.
