UN Resident Coordinator to Cambodia Reaffirms Continued Support for Cambodia’s Socio-Economic Development
On the morning of 2 March 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Vladanka Andreeva, United Nations Resident Coordinator to the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, Her Excellency Vladanka Andreeva expressed her gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for granting her and her delegation the opportunity to pay a courtesy call and conveyed her pleasure at returning to Cambodia for her second mission. She highly commended Cambodia’s significant contributions over the past 20 years to global peacekeeping missions through the continuous deployment of Blue Helmet forces under the United Nations. She also praised the strong cooperation between Cambodian ministries and institutions and UN agencies in Cambodia. Her Excellency informed Samdech Thipadei that UN agencies in Cambodia will continue to actively strengthen partnerships with Cambodian ministries to support the country’s socio-economic development in alignment with the Pentagonal Strategy – Phase I, particularly in the areas of job creation, upskilling, and human capital enhancement.
In response, Samdech Thipadei extended a warm welcome to Her Excellency on her second mission to Cambodia. He expressed his appreciation for the UN’s role as a key partner in supporting Cambodia’s socio-economic progress, as well as its continued support for Cambodia’s transition and graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status by 2029. On this occasion, Samdech Thipadei recalled his productive discussions during his recent mission to Europe with His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations; Her Excellency Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly; and His Excellency Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. He reaffirmed that relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions will continue to work closely with UN agencies in Cambodia.
Before concluding, Samdech Thipadei briefed Her Excellency Vladanka Andreeva on recent developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border. He underscored Cambodia’s steadfast position to resolve border issues peacefully, based on international law, relevant conventions and treaties, and existing bilateral agreements. Her Excellency noted that the United Nations hopes both countries will resolve their differences peacefully, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
