The construction of the Dei Edth–Thmar Kor Mekong Bridge has reached 39.2% completion as of the end of January, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Ministry spokesperson Phon Rim said today, that the project is being implemented under a 48-month construction period, with completion scheduled in 2028.

The Dey Edth–Thmar Kor Bridge is located with its western side in Dei Edth commune, Kien Svay district, and its eastern side in Thmar Kor commune, Lvea Em district, in Kandal province.

The bridge is part of the government’s strategic vision to strengthen economic connectivity and transportation between southern and eastern areas of Phnom Penh. It will connect to Xi Jinping Boulevard (Third Ring Road) at National Road 1 and link to the new international airport area on the eastern side, providing further connection to the Phnom Penh–Bavet Expressway.

According to the ministry, the bridge is a concrete structure with a total length, including approach roads, of 3,700 metres. The main bridge span is 1,600 metres in length and 26 metres wide, with four traffic lanes.

The approach roads measure 2,100 metres in length and 26 metres in width, surfaced with asphalt concrete (AC).

The project also includes the construction of four traffic diversion roads to facilitate traffic flow during and after construction.
