Senate President celebrates Golden Wedding anniversary

January 5, 2026, marks the 50th wedding anniversary of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Kittipritbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen.

To commemorate the history of this wedding anniversary, Samdech Techo Hun Sen posted a message with a video describing the relationship between the the Senate President and his wife from the time they did not know each other until 1979, when they met again after a painful separation.

In his message, Mr Hun said: “January 5, 2026 is the 50th anniversary of my wedding with my wife (January 5, 1976 – January 5, 2026). Since this wedding was to be held for 13 couples, after 7 a.m. we had to line up in two rows, male by male, female by female, to enter the wedding hall that was built for the meeting. For me, I was number 13 on the men’s side, and my wife was number 13 on the women’s side, which at that time felt like a meeting of soldiers before going to war or a campaign.

A few years ago, I wrote a booklet titled “The Unbreakable Couple,” which describes the relationship between my wife and I from the time we first met until 1979.

This book is voiced by Ms. Mang Chankanha and is made into a video by the Khmer Family Choir. To understand the story of their lives before and after marriage from March 1974, when they first met, to 1979, when they met again after a painful separation.
