Samdech Techo Hun Sen expresses disappointment over video depicting burning of Thai goods
Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate has expressed disappointment over a viral video showing the burning of Thai goods.
Via social media, Mr Hun stated that:
‘I just watched a video of over 8 minutes of the group…regarding the boycott of Thai goods. I am really disappointed by the inappropriate actions of these brothers… Burning Thai goods, cursing the sellers of Thai goods who have not sold out, is an act beyond patriotism and an extreme form of fanaticism.
Many Cambodians are boycotting Thai goods, almost 99 percent, whether they are people in the country or Cambodians abroad. The problem is that traders who have leftover Thai goods, where should they take them? Burn them or continue to sell them to make money? If [the group] has money, please buy these leftover goods to feed animals, rather than burning them like K01 did in the video. If people don’t eat them, it’s better to let them go to the animals, rather than burning them or destroying them.
I ask [the group] to stop this foolish activity immediately and join in strengthening the values of culture, morality, virtue, and dignity of the nation.
