King congratulates President Xi on China’s founding anniversary

Synopsis: In letter to President Xi, King expresses belief that ties will continue to deepen, bringing renewed prosperity to both peoples and contributing to regional and global harmony.
King Norodom Sihamoni has congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 76th Founding Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, expressing confidence that the Cambodia-China “all-weather community with a shared future” will continue to strengthen, bringing renewed prosperity to both peoples and contributing to regional and global harmony.
In a letter to President Xi, the King said that on the auspicious occasion, he had the distinct honour to join Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, the Royal Family, and the people of Cambodia in conveying their most sincere greetings and heartfelt congratulations to President Xi. Through him, the King also extended the wishes to the Communist Party, the State Council, the People’s Liberation Army, and the great people of China.
This year marks a significant milestone in the history of China-Cambodia relations, with the April visit of President Xi elevating bilateral ties to a new level.
“This year’s historic commemoration, highlighted by the grand military parade in Beijing on 3rd September 2025, stands as a resounding testimony to China’s remarkable achievements in modernisation, national defence, technological innovation and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It was for me a profound privilege to attend, for the second time, in witnessing such a momentous celebration, alongside world leaders, on Tiananmen Square. The solemnity of the parade and the display of discipline, unity and strength deeply reflected the enduring spirit of the Chinese nation and its unwavering commitment to peace, security, stability and prosperity,” the King wrote.
“On this solemn anniversary, the Kingdom of Cambodia takes great pride in its long-standing, iron-clad friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation with the People’s Republic of China, which have continued to flourish through mutual trust, solidarity and shared aspirations for peace and development. I remain confident that, under Your Excellency’s wise leadership, our “all-weather community with a shared future” will be further strengthened, bringing renewed prosperity to our two peoples and contributing to regional and global harmony,” he added.
The Queen Mother and the King took the opportunity to once again express their deepest appreciation for the warm and cordial meeting on August 26 at Zhongnanhai, and extended their heartfelt thanks to President Xi for his gracious hospitality and thoughtful care during their visit to China for medical check-ups.
Trade between China and Cambodia reached $12.7 billion in the first eight months of the year— a 26% increase compared to the same period last year. Chinese investment continues to dominate Cambodia, accounting for 52.8% of total foreign direct investment, reflecting a sustained trend of rapid growth.
