South Korean Investors Seek Greater Investment Opportunities in Cambodia’s Agriculture Sector

Phnom Penh, May 26, 2026 –South Korean investors are exploring additional investment opportunities in Cambodia, particularly in the agricultural sector with a focus on cashew production, according to Mr. Park Joo Bong, President of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Korea.

The remarks were made during a courtesy meeting with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace on Tuesday morning.

According to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed Mr. Park Joo Bong and his delegation on their visit to Cambodia and expressed hope that the trip would help identify further investment opportunities in the country.

During the meeting, Mr. Park highlighted Cambodia’s favourable investment climate, describing the country as safe and increasingly attractive to South Korean investors. He noted that investors are particularly interested in Cambodia’s agricultural sector, especially cashew cultivation and processing.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked South Korean investors for their growing interest in Cambodia and welcomed the focus on agricultural investment. He noted that Cambodia possesses abundant agricultural raw materials and stressed the need for more investors capable of processing Cambodian agricultural products for export to South Korea and global markets.

Samdech Techo emphasised that trade and investment remain the core pillars of Cambodia-South Korea relations and said the visit by South Korean investors would create additional opportunities for economic cooperation and investment expansion.

He also underlined the strong bilateral relationship between Cambodia and South Korea, which currently enjoy a strategic partnership. Samdech Techo expressed hope that the two countries could elevate ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in the future, particularly as they approach the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations. -AKP-
