DPM Sokhonn discusses Cambodia–US ties and border peace with US Under Secretary
Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with Allison Hooker, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, to discuss ways to further strengthen Cambodia–US bilateral relations and efforts to ensure the peaceful resolution of the border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand.
Both sides welcomed the continued positive momentum in bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across areas of mutual interest, including defence, security, and efforts to combat transnational crimes.
Sokhonn also expressed appreciation for the support of the United States for the Cambodia–Thailand peace process and reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to the full implementation of last year’s Ceasefire Agreement on July 28, the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration signed on October 26, and the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee Meeting held on December 27.
The Deputy Prime Minister further emphasised the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means and in accordance with international law.
