Prime Minister hails Muslim community as Ramadan begins

Prime Minister Hun Manet extended his congratulations to the Muslim community yesterday as the nation prepared for the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a message shared on his official social media platforms, the Prime Minister offered heartfelt well-wishes to Muslims at home and abroad, as well as the global Islamic community, noting the commencement of the sacred month on Thursday.

“On behalf of the government and the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), my wife and I extend our best wishes on the commencement of this sacred month,” the Prime Minister said.

He expressed his deep appreciation for the community’s role in preserving peace, racial harmony, and religious coexistence. He also praised their contributions to safeguarding national sovereignty and their involvement in humanitarian activities alongside the government.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the community’s continued trust in the current administration and the leadership of Hun Sen, the President of the Senate and President of the Supreme Privy Council to the King.

Ramadan is a period of spiritual reflection and devotion observed by Muslims worldwide, with its timing determined by the sighting of the new moon. During the month, the faithful fast from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food and drink as a means of self-discipline and spiritual purification. AKP
