Cambodia and Pakistan Commit to Strengthening and Expanding Bilateral Cooperation
On the afternoon of February 03, 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received H.E. Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, President of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, for a working discussion at the Peace Palace. The meeting took place during His Excellency’s official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from 2 to 5 February 2026.
During the meeting, His Excellency the Senate President expressed his great pleasure and extended his profound appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Cambodian side. He recalled that this year marks the 74th Anniversary of Pakistan-Cambodia diplomatic relations, noting that Pakistan was among the first nations to recognize Cambodia’s independence. His Excellency also highlighted the shared potential between the two nations, specifically regarding the agricultural sector and a dynamic young labor force. Furthermore, he highly valued past bilateral cooperation and expressed his firm belief that this visit will serve as a new driving force in deepening the relationship between the two countries, with a particular focus on the ties between their respective legislative institutions.
In response, Samdech Thipadei extended a warm welcome to His Excellency the Senate President and his delegation. He emphasised that the Senate President’s presence is a clear testament to the growing relationship between the Senates of both nations. Samdech Thipadei expressed his strong belief that this visit will help strengthen bilateral cooperation in new fields, reaffirming that the Royal Government of Cambodia stands ready to provide support and increase the momentum of the relationship between the legislative institutions to an even closer level.
Samdech Thipadei and Excellency the Senate President proceeded to discuss the strengthening and expansion of cooperation across a wide range of potential sectors. These include politics and diplomacy, security and defence, trade and investment, agriculture, technology, mineral resources, manufacturing, and education and vocational training. They also touched upon culture, tourism, healthcare, and people-to-people connectivity. Samdech Thipadei and His Excellency the Senate President encouraged the relevant ministries, institutions, and the private sectors of both countries to continue building connections to seek new opportunities for growth.
Samdech Thipadei and His Excellency the Senate President agreed to continue strengthening the cooperation between the two nations within both regional and international forums.
