H.E. Xi Jinping: China Supports Cambodia’s Socio-Economic Development

On the afternoon of 17 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.

During the meeting, President Xi Jinping highly valued the strong relationship and the “ironclad friendship” between China and Cambodia, emphasising China’s steadfast support for Cambodia’s socio-economic development. He further reaffirmed China’s continued cooperation with Cambodia by advancing the “Diamond Cooperation” framework and accelerating the implementation of the “Industrial and Technological Corridor” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor” to ensure sustained progress.

In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated the Chinese Government on the successful hosting of the 2026 World AI Conference. The Prime Minister expressed his sincere appreciation to the Government and people of China for their continued support and assistance, which have made significant contributions to Cambodia’s socio-economic development, infrastructure development, and the improvement of the livelihoods of the Cambodian people.
Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed that Cambodia consistently and unswervingly adheres to the One-China Policy, regarding matters relating to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xizang, and Xinjiang as the internal affairs of China. He also highly commended the steady progress of Cambodia–China relations as Comprehensive Strategic Partners and ironclad friends, noting that both countries are jointly building a Cambodia–China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.

Samdech Thipadei and President Xi Jinping also exchanged views on initiatives and future directions aimed at further deepening bilateral cooperation across a broad range of key areas, including political and diplomatic affairs, economy and trade, connectivity infrastructure, energy, artificial intelligence and the digital economy, agriculture, as well as defence and security.

Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei briefed President Xi Jinping on the latest developments concerning the Cambodia–Thailand border situation. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to resolving border issues peacefully, on the basis of international law and in accordance with the existing conventions, treaties, and agreements between Cambodia and Thailand.
