CMEC President: Cambodia Is a Country with Political Stability and Rapid Development, Providing the Company with High Confidence to Invest
On the afternoon of 15 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr Fang Yanshui, President of China Machinery Engineering Corporation Group (CMEC), on the occasion of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.
During the meeting, the President expressed his sincere gratitude to the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions for their close collaboration and steadfast support for the company’s business operations in Cambodia over the years. He highlighted that Cambodia’s political stability and rapid development have provided a solid foundation for the company to invest in the country with confidence. The President also briefed Samdech Thipadei on the company’s business operations in Cambodia, noting that it has been investing in the Kingdom since 2008, primarily in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Currently, the company is working closely with a local partner to develop a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) power plant in Koh Kong Province. The President expressed the company’s pride in contributing to the development of Cambodia’s energy sector to ensure the country’s long-term energy security and independence. Furthermore, he informed Samdech Thipadei of the company’s intention to explore further investment opportunities in the energy and agriculture sectors. He also noted that the company is actively engaging with numerous Chinese enterprises to encourage them to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia’s other high-potential sectors.
In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated the company on the success of its business operations around the world, as well as on the successful implementation of its investments in Cambodia. He also expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between the company and its local partner in developing the LNG power plant. Samdech Thipadei emphasised that the energy sector is one of Cambodia’s key sectors and that ensuring energy security is essential. He further noted that energy investments in Cambodia are intended not only to meet domestic demand but also to contribute to regional energy connectivity through the ASEAN Power Grid framework.
Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei affirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia continues to support investment companies and attaches great importance to the success of their investments in the Kingdom. He also welcomed the company’s intention to explore further investment opportunities in other high-potential sectors in Cambodia.
