CHINALCO Expresses Interest in Expanding Investment in Cambodia

On the afternoon of 15 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr Wang Shilei, President of the Aluminum Corporation of China (CHINALCO), on the occasion of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.

During the meeting, the Chairman briefed Samdech Thipadei on the business operations of CHINALCO, one of China’s leading enterprises, which operates in the mineral resources industry, infrastructure development, special economic zone development, and railway construction. He also updated Samdech Thipadei on the progress of the company’s projects in Cambodia, including the conduct of feasibility studies in the steel manufacturing and mineral resources sectors. On this basis, the Chairman expressed CHINALCO’s interest in exploring further investment opportunities in these sectors in Cambodia.

In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated CHINALCO on its successful business operations and welcomed the company’s interest in expanding its investment in Cambodia, particularly in sectors with significant potential, such as infrastructure, railway construction, and mineral resources. He emphasised that the Royal Government of Cambodia remains committed to creating a favourable investment environment and stands ready to support investors to ensure the successful implementation of their investment projects in Cambodia.

Before concluding, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the company to maintain close engagement with the relevant ministries and institutions of the Royal Government of Cambodia in order to translate investment opportunities into concrete investment projects in the future.
