Cambodia and Viet Nam Continue to Strengthen and Expand Bilateral Relations and Cooperation
On the afternoon of 8 June 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUNManet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, during his official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and his participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF), held in Hanoi on 8–9 June 2026.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the National Assembly highly commended Cambodia’s dynamic development and achievements across all sectors. He expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei, Cambodia will continue to attain greater success and achieve further progress. His Excellency the chairman also expressed support for the consensus reached between the Governments of the two countries to further deepen bilateral cooperation. He emphasised that the Vietnamese side would continue to promote the implementation of the agreements reached by the leaders of both countries and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and Cambodia would continue to be elevated to a new level. Furthermore, the Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his satisfaction with the excellent relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries and highlighted the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two legislatures within both bilateral and international frameworks.
In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed his appreciation for and highly valued Viet Nam’s socio-economic development and achievements. He expressed confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese Government, Viet Nam would successfully realise its development goals for 2030 and its long-term vision for 2045. At the same time, Samdech Thipadei expressed satisfaction with the excellent cooperation between the two legislative institutions through exchanges of visits at all levels and regular discussions between their leaders within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, which have made significant contributions to deepening and enhancing relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Samdech Thipadei and the Chairman of the National Assembly also discussed and exchanged views on further strengthening and expanding cooperation in key sectors, including the economy, trade and investment, politics, security and defence, education and vocational training, tourism, culture, and infrastructure connectivity, particularly the linkage between the Phnom Penh–Bavet Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh City–Moc Bai Expressway, enhanced waterway connectivity, and the expansion of direct flight links between the two countries.
Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei and the Chairman of the National Assembly agreed that both countries continue to possess considerable potential and numerous opportunities to complement and support one another in order to boost economic and trade development for the mutual benefit of the two countries and their peoples.
