Mr Hun Sen, President of the Senate, has confirmed that the surgery performed on His Majesty the King by Chinese doctors in Beijing was successful

Speaking via social media, he stated that he, along with his two sons, personally escorted the King into the operating room this morning, at a hospital in Beijing, China.

The Senate President added that “The surgery performed by the Chinese doctor on His Majesty the King was successful. His Majesty is now conscious after the anaesthesia wore off. Doctors are currently closely monitoring the post-surgery progress.”

He added that His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Mother would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the monks and citizens who sent messages of blessing to His Majesty.

He also took this opportunity to thank Chinese President Xi Jinping and the government of the People’s Republic of China for their concern for His Majesty’s health.

He also expressed his special thanks to the excellent team of doctors who performed the successful and safe surgery on His Majesty, beloved by the Cambodian people.

He added that he and his two sons have been in Beijing since Friday, to accompany the King and Queen Mother during this difficult time, because the King’s health is the health of the entire nation.

Mr Hun Sen stated that if the King’s health improves, His Majesty will return to the country on Wednesday.
