Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie Pledges Full Support for the Successful Hosting of the 20th Francophonie Summit in Cambodia
On the afternoon of 2 March 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Ms Louise MUSHIKIWABO, Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), and her delegation at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, Her Excellency the Secretary-General expressed her profound gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for taking time out of his busy schedule to receive her and her delegation. She also expressed her pleasure at returning to the Kingdom of Cambodia on this official mission. Her Excellency informed Samdech Thipadei that the purpose of her visit was to discuss and review the overall preparatory process for the 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026, which Cambodia will host. In this regard, Her Excellency and her delegation highly appreciated Cambodia’s level of preparedness for the organisation of the Summit and reaffirmed the OIF’s continued support to ensure the event is held smoothly and successfully. She underscored that the 20th Summit holds great significance for French-speaking countries. With Cambodia as the host, Her Excellency expressed strong confidence in a successful outcome and hoped for high-level participation from leaders of Francophone countries and partners, which would reflect the spirit of solidarity and fraternity within the Francophone community.
In response, Samdech Thipadei extended a warm welcome and expressed his pleasure at meeting Her Excellency and her delegation once again, following their previous meeting in Paris, France. Samdech Thipadei emphasised that Cambodia is honoured and pleased to host the 20th Francophonie Summit and expressed his appreciation to the OIF General Secretariat for its support throughout the preparatory process for this important event. Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei highlighted Cambodia’s readiness in terms of logistics, security, and other related arrangements to ensure the smooth and successful organisation of the Summit. Before concluding, Samdech Thipadei informed Her Excellency that Cambodia plans to organise three side events: (1) the Francophone Entrepreneurship Forum, (2) the Francophone Village Exhibition, and (3) the Franco-Tech Technology Exhibition.
