Pakistan Senate Chairman to embark on landmark official visit to Cambodia.

Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, the Honourable Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, is scheduled to lead a high-level parliamentary delegation on an official four-day visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia starting today.

The visit, running from February 2–5, comes at the invitation of Senate President Hun Sen. The diplomatic mission aims to deepen the burgeoning ties between the two nations and expand inter-parliamentary collaboration.

According to a statement from the Senate Secretariat General, the itinerary includes several significant diplomatic encounters:

• Royal Audience: Gilani, who also serves as the Founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), will be granted a Royal Audience with King Norodom Sihamoni.

• Senate Bilateral Talks: He will engage in formal bilateral discussions with Senate President Hun Sen to discuss shared legislative interests.

• Executive & Legislative Meetings: The delegation is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on Prime Minister Hun Manet and Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly.

The visit is seen as a strategic step to reinforce the bonds of friendship and bilateral relations between Phnom Penh and Islamabad.

Beyond immediate bilateral interests, the mission is intended to advance Cambodia’s broader parliamentary diplomacy agenda. Under the leadership of Senate President Hun Sen, this agenda focuses on fostering regional and global peace, stability, and sustainable development through structured international dialogue and cooperation.
