Senate President Hun Sen affirmed today that the Cambodian people deeply desire peace, and he believes the Thai people do as well.

“The true wish of the Cambodian people now is peace, and I believe that the Thai people also want peace,” he shared via his social media platform on Wednesday evening.

Hun Sen said he has continued to closely monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement for the second consecutive day and commended all Cambodian forces for strictly upholding its terms.

He also expressed appreciation to the foreign military attachés who conducted on-site inspections along the Cambodian side of the border. He extended thanks to the Channel News Asia correspondent from Singapore who travelled to the Cambodia–Thailand border to provide on-the-ground reporting.

The Senate President affirmed his intention to continue monitoring the situation until full normalcy is restored.

“I hope I do not fall ill—I don’t have the right to be sick at a time when the Cambodian nation and people are facing hardship,” he stated.

As part of the monitoring efforts, a delegation of foreign military attachés and representatives from 13 countries visited the 3rd Intervention Division in Preah Vihear province on July 30, 2025, to receive a situational briefing on the border issue.

The Embassy of Japan, whose military attaché Colonel HARA Takashi participated in the visit, expressed hope for the swift restoration of peace and normalcy in the affected areas.

In a statement, the embassy conveyed its deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the recent border conflict and extended heartfelt sympathy to those affected.

“The Government of Japan will continue to encourage both Cambodia and Thailand to promote steady implementation of the ceasefire agreement and de-escalation of the situation, in coordination with relevant countries,” added the Embassy. AKP
