(Video) Selected Comments of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, the meeting with workers at the inauguration of a daycare center at Marvel Garment Factory [Unofficial Translations]
After meeting with and talking to the workers who are parents of children here and the staff of the daycare center about their incomes, expenses, benefits received, family life, maternal and infant well-being, health services, government support for women in pregnancy and children, and policies that the government has put forward for workers, on the occasion of the inauguration of the daycare center and inspecting the hygiene and sanitation conditions at the Marvel Garment factory, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, made the following statement, which CMF-CNV has unofficially excerpted below:
[…] I came here today to see the actual situation and the different arrangements (for the setup of the daycare center). I see that the arrangement is quite good, and ample attention to hygiene and order in this place has been made. I thank the organizing team, which include the Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, who implemented it (well). There have been 10 orders issued, including (to) prepare a nursery. Now we have put into operation this first nursery here. We are still working on to have more coming. We plan to (have) two or three more. In addition, the Ministry of Education (Youth and Sports) has been organizing (daycare centers) in 13 small communities in Kampong Speu and Kampong Cham provinces […] hopefully, large companies organize (their daycare centers) to the extent of their capacity […]
I thank Mr. Ma Jianrong for helping to invest in the construction of this place […] which signifies the company’s attention to the comfort of the workers/women as the company’s family. Let us help each other […] the Ministry of Labor (and Vocational Training) is also promoting the preparation of a canteen […] with which, if (people stay) in this place […] they have no need to travel after works. The company helps provide food on site that we could save more on food costs. We don’t have to pay for childcare costs either. We can save again. From the inception of pregnancy, health treatment, going to a health check-up, you don’t have to pay. (Midwifing) the child delivery is also free (of charge). Another chance to save […] as of now, the (social benefit) policy is not just (the words that I said anymore), but tangible results […]
I thank our workers who have worked hard to help themselves, their families, and the national society, especially to help create more human resources and help take care of them well. I hope that you all want more children […] I am so happy to see that your children are healthy […] I urge that the Ministry of Labor (and Vocational Training) and (the Ministry of) Health continue to cooperate with companies to provide more assistance needed. The Ministry of Education (Youth and Sports) can look into the possibility of organizing training (infant care) […] the most important thing here is for concerned parties is to ensure that the people, the community, and the workers surely benefit from it […]
Our civil servants also have the social security fund (NSSF) ID. We are expanding the health coverage to those in the informal sector too […] that you have raised your hands to certify that you have received tangible benefits makes me so happy. You are the real points givers to the efforts of the Royal Government, and not those who just talked and did nothing. Saying that you have benefited from the NSSF, or from the benefits provided by the government since under the leadership of Samdech Techo, and now from the government that I am leading, both in supporting the women with pregnancy and supporting newborn children up to the age of two, (indicates that we have acored results of the correct policy) […]./.
