The Oddar Meanchey Provincial Administration has announced that it will organise a consecration ceremony for the Lokeshvara statue, also known as the Eight-armed Roundabout statue, along with a Buddhist merit-making ritual dedicated to the spirits of Cambodian soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending the nation’s borders.
The ceremony will take place at 6:30am on Saturday at the former Eight-armed Roundabout area in Samraong City.
As part of the event, alms will be offered to 108 Buddhist monks to dedicate merit to the souls of fallen border protection forces who laid down their lives to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremony and to maintain security, safety, public order, and traffic discipline, the provincial administration will implement temporary traffic diversions and road closures in designated areas.
Traffic will be temporarily suspended on National Road 68, from the billboard near Yaneth Restaurant to Reth Chenda Restaurant, as well as on National Road 56, from the ceremony venue to the junction in front of Samraong Market. All vehicles will be prohibited from passing through these sections from Friday to Saturday, starting at 6:00am until the conclusion of the ceremony.
The provincial administration has therefore urged members of the public who normally travel along National Road 68 near the former Eight-armed roundabout and National Road 56 to take note of the restrictions, exercise understanding, and avoid travelling through the ceremony area during the specified period.
Once the temporary restrictions are lifted, traffic will resume. The Oddar Meanchey Provincial Police, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the Samraong Municipal Administration, and all relevant authorities have been instructed to widely disseminate the information and coordinate closely to ensure effective implementation of the measures.
