H.E. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, wishes to inform the public as well as members of national and international media as follows:

The current situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border, following the entry into force of the ceasefire, from December 27, 2025 until January 16, 2026 as follows.

Since the ceasefire took effect, Cambodia is consistently respecting and implementing the Ceasefire agreement, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, and other relevant documents.

Simultaneously, Cambodia has provided full support to the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and emphasized the indispensable importance of strengthening the AOT’s role and mandate. This support aims to verify and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire while promoting transparency, accountability, and mutual trust.

In light of the above, On Thursday, January 16, 2026, the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) of the Kingdom of Cambodia coordinated with the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to observe, verify, and report on the situation at four locations in Oddar Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey provinces. All these sites are civilian areas and infrastructures that were severely damaged by Thai military attacks, as detailed below:

– At 09:12 AM, the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to observe, verify, and report on the situation in the area of the O’ Phlouk Damrei, Thma Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province.

– At 10:20 AM, the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to observe, verify, and report on the situation in the area of the Hun Sen Thma Da Health Centre, Thma Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province.

– At 10:40 AM, the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to observe, verify, and report on the situation in the area of the Chey Chomneas Point of Entry, Thma Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirm our firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Declaration of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thai General Boundary Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements. This commitment is made with the aim of ensuring rapid recovery and restoring normalcy, peace, stability, and security for the populations living along the border areas of both countries.

The public, as well as national and international journalists, are hereby informed of the facts regarding this matter.
