On 18 September 2024, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister SOK Chenda Sophea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Jonathan Kings, Ambassador of New Zealand to the Kingdom of Cambodia with Residence in Bangkok, at the Ministry.
 
His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea welcomed and thanked His Excellency Jonathan Kings for delivering a lecture on “65 Years of Cambodia-New Zealand Relations and New Zealand’s Policy Priorities” at National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations. The Deputy Prime Minister recalled the productive meeting with His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, in July in Vientiane.
 
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his deep thanks to New Zealand for its assistance and suggested that the two countries work together more in the areas of agriculture, agro-processing, and human resource development. Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that New Zealand hold business seminars in any of the ASEAN member states where a large number of New Zealanders could attend and hear from representatives of the Council for the Development of Cambodia about trade and investment opportunities in Cambodia.
 
The Deputy Prime Minister and the Ambassador expressed their delight with the positive working relationship and mutually beneficial relationship between Cambodia and New Zealand, and they emphasized the need to continue building on this relationship.
 
They also discussed mutually important regional and global concerns, as well as the dialogue relations between ASEAN and New Zealand.
