Indian Ambassador: India-Cambodia Relations Should Be Elevated to New Heights

On the morning of March 13, 2025, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Bawitlung Vanlalvawna, Ambassador of India to Cambodia, at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his pleasure at being appointed as ambassador to Cambodia and conveyed greetings from Indian government leaders. He highly appreciated the long-standing relationship between India and Cambodia, emphasizing the traditional bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two countries. He underscored that Cambodia is a vital partner for India. Based on decades of diplomatic ties, growing cooperation across various sectors and untapped potentials, His Excellency the Ambassador highlighted that India-Cambodia relations should be elevated to new heights.

In response, Samdech Borvor Thipadei expressed satisfaction with the progress of Cambodia-India relations and thanked the Government and people of India for their contributions to Cambodia’s socio-economic development, particularly in human resource training and development. He highlighted that both countries still have numerous untapped areas of cooperation that present opportunities for mutual benefit. Samdech Borvor Thipadei also expressed his belief that His Excellency the Ambassador’s role would be instrumental in further strengthening and expanding relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Samdech Borvor Thipadei and His Excellency the Ambassador discussed expanding cooperation in various areas, including the economy, trade, investment, national defense, security, tourism, culture, the possibility of increasing direct flights between India and Cambodia, and enhancing people-to-people and business-to-business connections. Samdech Borvor Thipadei encouraged the Ambassador to establish close collaboration with Cambodian ministries and institutions to further advance bilateral cooperation.
