The convention, which will be employing new technology such as augmented reality through online platforms, will mark the beginning of a series of “Rallies of Hope” that will be held monthly until December.
The first rally on August 9 will be convened in cooperation with the International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP).
Our world today is experiencing increasing confusion in values.
Not only are values polarized between the strongly religious and the strongly secular but these are acted upon with increasing assertiveness.
Despite advances in conflict resolution that have led institutions such as the UN and the EU to strive to preserve the peace and end poverty, the world still struggles with conflicts over territory and resources, religious and racial discord, and the collapse of family values, climate change and among other challenges.
International cooperation is in decline, as we have seen during the current COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought tragedy to families around the world while cutting people off from each other and from their livelihoods.
Struggling to respond, governments are seemingly faced with a choice between their citizens’ health or economic survival.
It is such dilemmas that drew the late Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and his wife Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon to begin speaking out unashamedly for the actualization of an ideal, that of one family of humanity under God.
They have advocated and supported the philosophy of interdependence, mutual prosperity, and universal values that challenge us to see our purpose in life in the well-being of the other, the fulfillment of our individual purpose in the advancement of the greater good.
The rally will open with the invocations of religious leaders representing the world’s major faiths.
Former UN Secretary-General and Chairman of the National Council on Climate and Air Quality in Korea Ban Gi-moon will give a welcoming address.
Following this, Rev. Paula White, spiritual advisor to President Donald Trump, will give a special message,
which will be followed by congratulatory messages from the Hon. Chuichi Date, former President of the House of Councilors of Japan, and the Hon. Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
The keynote addresses will be given by H.E. Macky Sall, President of Senegal, H.E. Brigi Rafini, Prime Minister of Niger, and others in positions of national leadership around the world. The keynote addresses will address the importance and significance of realizing a world where God is acknowledged. Finally, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, co-founder of the Universal Peace Federation and host of this rally, will then speak and convey a special message of hope to humanity for the realization of a heavenly unified world.
